Sustainable Development Week

The International Research and Educational center CARDET organizes the 2nd Sustainable Development Week from 1-5 of December 2014, at the premises of the University of Nicosia and the European University Cyprus in Nicosia.

The Sustainable Development Week is organized in the framework of the European project “Global Campus” and will include a multitude of relevant activities like interactive photographic exhibitions, workshops, open coffee discussions and seminars.

The Photographic Exhibition which is presented under the title “Global North at the center stage of Development Challenges – Opportunities” will be held in the Gallery Restaurant of the University of Nicosia and will present photo material kindly provided by the International Organization World Vision and the freelance photographer Andrew Caballero Reynolds.

During the photo exhibition a photographic contest “What would you take?” will be running, supported by Amnesty International, through which the visitors will be asked to write down the single object they would take with them if they had to abandon their houses because of a humanitarian disaster. The more inventive answers according to the spirit of the photo exhibition will be rewarded.

A series of seminars, workshops and open coffee discussions on relevant issues like Education, Climate Change and Social Work in a Globalized World will be also provided. Participation Certificates will be offered to all events’ participants.

During the Development Week, Volunteer University Students will distribute informational material within the universities about Sustainable Development and other activities of the project “Global Campus”.

The Sustainable Development Week is supported by the University of Nicosia, the UNESCO chair of the University of Nicosia, the European University Cyprus and the International Organization World Vision.
