Results

The Action has four main expected results:

  1. Inspire: Raising Awareness: 35,000 University students have experienced high profile, media-based, awareness-raising activities designed to prompt reflection on global interdependence and development and their role as global citizens.
This first result is about reaching a large and diverse group of students in our target locations through large-scale coordinated programmes of awareness-raising activities. Activities provide students with short-term opportunities to increase their awareness of global interdependence and development and reflect on their role as global citizens.
  2. Educate: Building Critical Understanding: 900 University students have built critical understanding of global interdependence and development and reflected on their values, attitudes, roles and responsibilities in relation to a globalised society.
The second result is about catering to demand for further learning opportunities from students who have participated in awareness raising activities (Result 1). Part-time, evening courses provide these students with a broad based introduction to development and opportunities to develop their critical understanding of global interdependence and development and their values, attitudes, roles and responsibilities in relation to a globalised society.
  3. Engage: Supporting Informed Creative Engagement: 275 University students have been supported to take informed, constructive action for development in their locations, engaging with peers and local communities on projects to reduce poverty and promote justice, human rights and sustainable ways of living.
The third result is about catering to demand for further learning opportunities from students who have participated in courses (Result 2). Part-time, action learning programmes support groups of students to engage with their peers and local communities on projects to eradicate poverty and promote justice, human rights and sustainable ways of living.
  4. Building Capacity for Global Learning at Tertiary Level: Increased capacity of 18 on-campus stakeholder groups involved in this Action to increase the quality and coverage of global learning activities at Tertiary Level.
The fourth result is about using this Action to build capacity for increased Global Learning at Tertiary Level. This Action brings together key stakeholders and supports them to develop the motivation, knowledge and skills to support the integration of Global Learning activities on campus.
